Are you struggling to grow your small web agency in a competitive market? Growing an agency can be a challenge, especially when you’re already having trouble keeping up with your current clients. That’s why I’ve collected some straightforward and effective tips for growing your small agency quickly and within your budget:

1. Be Your Own Client

Whether your agency focuses more on web design, SEO, or online marketing, it’s essential that you become your own client. If your own website doesn’t look amazing and/or rank highly in organic search results, you’re sending the wrong message to potential clients.

Instead, use your own website’s successes to prove to clients that you can get results. This could include appearing on the first page of Google’s search results and having a fully functional, sleek, mobile-friendly website.

Having expertise and proven results are way more effective with clients than promises, so ensuring that your own website is in order before working on other people’s websites should be your top priority.

2. Simplify Your Process

If a potential client becomes confused or overwhelmed by the process you’re presenting them with, they may choose to go with another agency. Overly complex processes can be quite daunting, especially if the business you’re trying to work with isn’t especially tech-savvy. Complex processes can also be a problem for businesses that simply don’t have the time to go through multiple steps with your agency to get results.

If this is a concern for you, we recommend simplifying your processes yourself or having someone experienced in the field write simplified processes for you. This includes your templates, reports, tools, strategies, and even your team. The mission of any great web agency is to help a business succeed without adding more stress or any new challenges to their plate. If you keep this in mind when assessing your processes, you should be able to identify where you need to make changes.

3. Set Yourself Apart

Many small web agencies think that the best way to attract more clients is to offer a really broad range of services. This isn’t the case. Offering so many services in an attempt to solve all of your client’s problems will spread you and your team way too thin. You’ll be overworked and unable to find a real specialty that people will associate with your agency.

Specialisation is an important aspect of growing your web agency. That’s why you should focus on one or two services (like web design and SEO) and/or market towards a few specific industries. Otherwise, your agency could get totally lost in today’s competitive marketing environment.

4. Offer Flexible Pricing

If you want to grow your agency, offering flexible pricing is a must. Otherwise, you run the risk of overcharging and driving away potential clients or undercharging and putting your agency’s viability at risk. What matters most at the end of the day is that you offer a reasonable and appropriate price for your services.

Not sure how to go about flexible pricing? You should start by getting to know your new clients and learning about their needs, expectations, and budget. You can then offer various pricing packages so that they can decide how much they’re willing to spend and for what services.

5. Outsource to a Professional

A major roadblock to growing your web agency may be that you have interested clients but not enough trained staff to take them on. If you’re struggling to keep up with your growing workload, but don’t want to stagnate your agency’s growth, you should consider outsourcing to a professional.

By outsourcing some of your work, you’ll be more organised and efficient, and you’ll have the freedom to take on more clients and projects. You can also look forward to a better work/life balance for yourself if you’ve been working evenings and weekends trying to catch up on work. The key to this, of course, is to outsource to someone reputable, reliable, and experienced with the work you need help with.
